Busy Off Season For Super Street's Derek Rose
16 March 2016 Casco, MI - It's not often that a drag racing ET record is smashed by over two tenths of a second in one day, let alone on one pass, but Casco Michigan's Derek Rose did just that at the 2015 World Finals in the NHRDA Super Street Category.
Check out the video of his record run:
Rose lowered the ET record from Chris Buhidar's 9.459 to a blistering 9.252 blast at the Motorplex. The Duramax powered entries in the class had set the ET record several times during the year, but at the final event it was Derek's Cummins Dodge that took the record to end up at the top of the ET Record heap in Super Street in 2015.
Derek finished the Super Street season 5th in championship points last year, and has been very busy during the off season, making major changes to his 2006 Dodge to get ready for the 2016 diesel drag racing season.
"The 9.25 wasn't the best pass of the season." Derek said. "We went 9.21 a couple of weeks later, and lowered our best 1/8th mile time by two tenths at another event. We were hoping to get into the 9.0's, but just ran out of time."
Derek and his guys at Derek's DNR Customs have been extremely busy - "We wanted to significantly improve the 8.5 (ET) Certification for the cage." said Derek. "We ended up going above and beyond, by putting the seat in the center of the cage for safety. It's a really sweet setup, super comfortable, and we were able to put the pedals and the steering wheel exactly where I wanted them."

Derek had planned on back-halving the truck, but after getting an invitation to participate at the Ultimate Call Out Challenge he realized a back half would really hamper him in that style of competition.
Derek wanted to make sure and thank all those that help make it all possible too - Sponsors for Derek's team include BD Diesel Performance, DNR Customs, Diamond Pistons, Fleece Performance, Hardway Performance provides the tuning, Franks Transmissions and most of all, his wife Nicole.
When we asked Derek his thoughts for the 2016 Super Street season and the performance we might see this year he commented:
"I think we could see an 8.99 pass this year in Super Street. The competition is there. It will require perfect conditions, great weather, and great track prep on the starting line. The traction at the starting line will be key."
