Verlon Southwick Ready For The World Finals

Since coming on the NHRDA Diesel Drag Racing Verlon Southwick has won no less than five National Points Championships and four World Championships. He won the title in the first year he competed, the 2011 Super Diesel Title, and a number of 2011 Regional Titles to go with it.

When asked what have been the biggest keys to success this racer from Idaho quipped - "You don't win if you don't go to all the races."

"Scott's (McKinstry) gone to two more races this year, and that is the difference in the points right now." he continued. "Your vehicle has got to be consistent, and once it is, leave it alone."

The Super Diesel class has been very successful for Southwick this year. He has won four times, starting out in Denver at the Diesels On The Mountain event, followed by wins at the Pacific Coast Diesel Nationals, Canadian Diesel Shootout, and the Big Sky Truck Fest in Montana.

In the Sportsman category he trails points leader Scott McKinstry by 60 points, but has hopes going into this weekend's World Finals. "Coming to Texas I'm hoping to be #1 qualifier, then put up a bunch of money on the table to face Scott in the 1st round." The Sportsman pit area will be the place to watch Saturday!

Sponsors on Southwick's 2006 GMC are Edge Products, who have been with him since 2012, ATP Trucks, Adrenalin Performance, who built the truck in 2012, the D-Max Store, and Custom Auto.

The NHRDA World Finals Sled Pull will get started September 30th at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis Texas. The spectator gates open at 3 PM, the first hook will get underway at 6 PM. For more information visit
