Top Diesel Fab Four Battle For World Championship

Last year the Top Diesel Class had the quickest and fastest side-by-side Drag Race in NHRDA history at the 2015 World Finals, where Jared Jones won the World Finals title against the National Points champion Marty Thacker. Jones went 6.582 at 224.02 mph to Thacker's 6.758 217.28 mph. It was the first 200 mph side-by-side race in NHRDA history.

2016 has seen four drivers rise to the top, and they are all scheduled to be at the 2016 NHRDA World Finals to battle it out for the Points and World Champion titles at the Texas Motorplex Sept 30-Oct 1st, 2016

2016 should be even better! From the video archives - here is that record race from 2015...

After dominating in Pro Stock for a number of seasons Moody has entered the Top Diesel Class right where he left off in Pro Stock - at the top. Moody is currently the points leader in the category, and has recorded three wins so far this season - at the Desert Diesel Nationals, Oklahoma Diesel Nationals, and the Midwest Truckin' Nationals where he defeated Jared Jones on a monster hole-shot.

After the 2015 season Robinson retired his Funny Car/Altered combination and built a brand new dragster to stay competitive. "The big story is the current altered chassis was able to run in the 7.10's in Top Diesel, and now the class is running in the 6.60's. It was good old competition that mandated the change." commented Robinson.

Earlier today NHRDA President Randy Cole stopped by John's shop in nearby Weatherford, and sent in this video of Robinson's preparations for this weekend.

Long time supporters and sponsors Power Service Diesel Products, Texas Diesel Power and Scheid Diesel are continuing their support of the team.

Jared Jones is part of the talented team at Scheid Diesel, and is also the driver of the Scheid Diesel Dragster.  Jared finished the 2015 season 2nd in Championship points, and is the defending Top Diesel World Champion coming into this weekend.  He won the Mid West Truckin' Nationals in St. Louis earlier this year.

Jones is also the current record holder in the category, with a pass that goes back to June 2014 set at Lucas Oil Raceway.  The record is 6.466 at 225.30 mph, and both of those numbers could be bettered during the weekend.
