Jarid "The Ironman" Vollmer - Pro Stock National Champion

What happens when a former NHRDA champion driver joins up with a multi-time championship NHRDA Pro Stock team? The answer is a 2016 NHRDA Pro Stock National Championship and NHRDA Pro Stock World Championship! When Jarid "the Ironman" Vollmer was picked to be the full time driver for the G & J Diesel/MBRP '41 Willys by Brad and Tracey Makinen, they knew they made a great choice. Vollmer vowed at the beginning season to win both the Pro Stock National Championship and World Championship.

Diesel TV caught up with Jarid in the winner's circle at the World Finals:

The Texas Diesel Nationals went very well for the team as they put the car in the winner's circle by beating NHRDA rookie driver Dallas Theobald in the final round by posting a pass of 8.01 seconds at 168 mph. The crew and the driver knew there was still room for some improvement but they were happy to start the season with a win.

At the next race in Phoenix, the performances were better as Vollmer and the G & J Diesel/MBRP team made a season best pass of 7.91 seconds. But the car had some trouble in the final round and wasn't able to make a full pass. Vollmer left the Desert Diesel Nationals in a tie for first place in the points.

The next event that the G & J Diesel/MBRP team attended was the Diesels on the Mountain event at Bandimere Speedway located just outside of Denver, Colorado. Vollmer and his team put on a true "Ironman" performance by taking the win and running a career best of 7.46 seconds. After the event there was no doubt in anybody's mind that Jarid "Ironman" Vollmer had the National Championship clearly in his sights.

A runner-up finish at the Pacific Coast Diesel Nationals and a win at the JB's Canadian Diesel Shootout saw Vollmer extend his points lead in the Pro Stock National Championship standings. But the next event was the biggest and one of the most important for Vollmer and the G & J Diesel/MBRP team as the NHRDA rolled in to Billings, Montana for the G & J Diesel Big Sky Truck Fest, hometown of team owners Brad and Tracey Makinen. The team had all their friends and family in attendance and put on a great show as Vollmer was able to take the win while running a 7.82 at 174 mph.

The NHRDA World Finals are always a big test for any NHRDA racer and team. But Jarid "the Ironman" Vollmer knew that after a long season it all comes down to one event. The team came to the Texas Motorplex with the National Championship already wrapped up and they just wanted to cap the season off with a NHRDA World Championship. They car was on point all weekend and so was the driver as the G & J Diesel/MBRP '41 Willys took the victory in the final round with a run of 7.57 seconds at 184 mph.

Afterwards the NHRDA's Scott Heaton caught up with Jarid and talked to him about the National Championship and World Championship double-up and Jarid replied "Hopefully next year we can back it up again." Vollmer wanted to thank all of the people and sponsors that helped him achieve his goal of winning the NHRDA Pro Stock National Championship and World Championship, "My wife, Brad and Tracey Makinen, G & J Diesel, MBRP, Industrial Injection, Dynomite Diesel, S & S and Bosch Performance, PPE and of course all the guys at the shop."

Jarid "the Ironman" Vollmer will be looking forward to the 2017 NHRDA Diesel Drag Racing season as he and the team will want more trophies and more championships.
